Official Photographer

I have officiated at a number of events, (see below), but by far my proudest achievement has been selected as the official Australian photographer for the famous British rock band STATUS QUO:

It all started off by chance in 2000, when Status Quo launched their Oz Tour with a promotional steam train ride from Brisbane to Grandchester, (west of Ipswich). The stop at Grandchester was highlighted by a 40 minute free show at the railway station. As an avid fan and photographer since the 1970’s, I went along with a digital camera, (emerging technology back then), took a number of pics and sent them to their webmaster in the UK. They were delighted, asked if I could shoot their Brisbane Meet & Greet and their concert. This is where I first met the band members and so my journey began…

… With the band subsequently touring Down Under every three or four years, I was provided with a press pass to any of their shows I could attend, (eg: Brisbane, Nambour, Tweed Heads, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne. Adelaide, Byron Bay Blues Festival). It was always a buzz to record concerts and the occasional meet & greet function, with selected photos used for tour programs, tour posters, website logs, t-shirts, jigsaw puzzles and so on. “It can’t get better than this,” I thought until…

… in 2017 Status Quo’s Australian tour was highlighted by them being the headline act for the annual Rock The Boat Cruise. This time around I was privileged to be given an Access All Areas pass, with a brief to photograph the band members “behind the scenes”, (out and about, sound checks, backstage, etc). A rewarding, yet challenging task was to scout out, plan and shoot promotional shots in Sydney and Melbourne. As a long term fan of Status Quo, it was an honour to work and spend time with the band and get to know them on a more personal level. You can find out more about the band at:

I have also worked as an official photographer at the Abbey Medieval Festival, Brisbane Zombie Walk and numerous school musicals. All these occasions have reinforced my understanding of meeting tight schedules, working in an unobtrusive manner and seeking out that special moment or position to capture the best picture possible.
